Admission Process Challenges

For Independent Schools managing the Admissions process is a huge challenge.  Serco Learning have worked with Independent Schools across the UK to understand the pressures they face when it comes to admissions; from capturing all the relevant details of those that have applied to be admitted to the school, to coordinating entrance exams and recording the results.  Following this and in order to simplify the admissions process so that it is less time consuming and more easily manageable, Serco Learning created specific admissions features within the exciting NEW Progresso MIS solution.  In addition to which Serco Learning ensured that there was Independent School representation within the Progresso pioneer programme enabling those that will be the first to use Progresso to experience the admissions functionality and much more.

Progresso allows Independent Schools to record applicant details in draft form so that whilst being stored in the central system, they are not active as current students.  Initial meetings and interviews can be created as events within the system, enabling the whole process to be tracked and monitored. This also enables assessments to be recorded with draft status so that applicants can be tested prior to entrance.  These entrance exams can be scheduled and administered in the same way as internal and external exams.  This means that with Progresso the admissions process can be carried out through one central MIS solution, saving the need to manage multiple systems.  Plus for those students lucky enough to be offered a place within the school, their details are in the Progresso solution and do not need to be transferred from elsewhere, making it a slick and easy process to activate them on the system as a current student.  In addition to this any relevant documentation for example the application form, references from previous schools, previous assessment documentation, and more, can all be attached to the record within Progresso.
