Meeting BECTA Requirements

Local Authorities are aware of the biggest upheaval of MIS support for schools and academies since the MIS inception in the early 1990’s. As more schools and academies look to review their ICT provision it is clear that as time goes by more schools are looking to the MIS provision of Serco for the future. Progresso is the most up to date and innovative solution for MIS in the market meeting the needs of teachers, parents, governors and senior leaders of both schools and academy groups. The BECTA report has driven forward the requirement for a review of MIS provision every three years and with more academies evolving it is becoming increasingly likely that support teams will have less schools and academies using one specific MIS.

Serco Learning are talking to an increasing number of local authorities who are interested in supporting Serco’s most evolved MIS, Progresso. Progresso is so flexible that it allows for a very wide ability for support and given the number of schools and academies using Serco’s systems then Serco are interested in talking to Local Authorities who are planning for the future with the BECTA requirements in mind. If your local authority is worried about less income due to schools using an alternative MIS then contact us to see how supporting one or more systems could keep your service at a high quality level and also supporting more schools generating more income for you, not just in your Local Authority but perhaps in neighbouring authorities where Serco schools and academies do not get the option of local support.

BECTA requirements have led the DfE to outline a tender framework agreement which you will be aware of and it could be that your local authority is planning carry out an MIS review. If you are considering a tender process then a discussion about what Progresso can do for you and the schools in your authority is just what you need. This will give you an insight into the benefits of Progresso and its capabilities which will mean great time and cost savings if taken on board. If perhaps you are aware that any tender outcome could mean that schools can opt for any system of their choice then how will you cope with that if schools decide to move to Serco, will that mean a loss of income? or will it mean your team will have to reduce in size? Discussing the options with Serco will put you in the best possible position for when you plan your tender.
